Thanks to Juliana, Mamie and St=E9phane for their interest. Since the
original meeting has now passed the immediacy been lifted, but I'd still
like to get to the bottom of the problem and I'll let you all know if I do.


Incidentally, Mamie, "pdf/8.pdf" is the full path - a file called 8.pdf in a
folder called pdf.

Juliana, the only way I've been able to get this to work is to have Acrobat
Reader already opened and running in the background and then accessing the
file
direct with full path, e.g., C:\documentname.pdf.

In the original message, On Behalf of Niall Kennedy, please remember that
Windows handles / as a special instruction (directory), so try renaming the
document without using / \ or :  I might always suggest that you put the
full
path of the document into your A HREF instruction.  Good luck everybody!
