I recently had to save pics from Word, and what did was right-click (on my
PC, or ctrl-click with a Mac) on the image, copy, paste it into Photoshop,
and save it as a GIF.

There is probably a way to do it within Word (I missed the earlier thread on
this as well) but I found a quick alternative is to use a screen-capture
utility.

Thee are many of them available but I use HyperSnap, which will save to a
variety of bitmap formats.  http://www.hyperionics.com/
