you might want to try the following, which certainly works for Windows
2000, though I am not sure about Windows XP:
Open your Registry Editor, typing into the command dialog:
regedit.exe
The Registry Editor opens. Now search for this folder:
KKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\View Source Editor\
Here should be located just one folder named "Editor Name".
The value of this should be:
%SystemRoot%\System32\NOTEPAD.EXE %1
If it is something else, or the path is a wrong one to your editor, just
change this value.
You might even want to choose some other more sophisticated editor than
Notepad is. Just type in the path to the program file (using backslashes),
e.g.
E:\Proton\proton31de\proton.exe
Restart your Browser after deleting the cache (Temporary Internet Files)
and see if it works.
