I'm not sure *quite* what the problem was, but I *think* it had something
to do with storing variables in hidden form fields. I tried rewriting the
javascript today so that it did not use forms for this purpose, just
created variables outside the functions to hold the values, and it seems to
work.

Though, several people said the original version worked for them, which
just adds to the confusion. <sigh> One thing I've definitely learned in the
last few years is that I will never understand all the hows and whys of
this line of work. :-/

I believe I have the thing working now, though, so that's good. Thanks for
the input everyone...
