fashions and contradictions

Many folk tell me that frames are bad, for a whole variety of reasons, the
most common being the lack of support on early browsers.

However, the same folk also go on about using style sheets. Now I have
avoided getting into style sheets (interesting as they look) because I
believe that MOST browsers don't support them (am I correct?)

How do you guys and gals reconcile these opposing philosophies, and what
are your general comments on cross browser support and how it influences
your own web design?
