Hmmmmmmm... that's something to think about ;-)
Well, my understanding may be different from yours... for
me, it's like that:
I'm using <.acronym title="Cascading
Style Sheets">CSS<./acronym>.
vs
John Doe, <.abbr title="Department">Dpt.<./abbr> <.abbr
title="number">No.<./abbr> One.
That is, I use abbr for the shortened form of a SINGLE word,
and acronym for a row of words where (mostly) only the first
character of the single word is taken from, to form a new
"word".
