here you go,=20
some of the figures (some out of date)I draw up on when presenting,=20
they are more UK European centric Im a afraid but as an addictional
sweetner,=20

ask your self this

how long do you spend making you web site viewable and useable to those
users who chose to use a Mac (sorry but they are a minority audience)
and how much time do you spend making sure that the disabled can use your
site ? who have no choice about the way they are restricted in the way they
use the web.

makes you think doesn't it?

=B7	Over 15% (8.7 million) of people are disabled (18% working
population)
=B7	93% of disabled people live in their own homes
=B7	Disabled people have a combined spending power of =A350 billion (10%
UK total)
=B7	There are 6 million carers of disabled people in the UK and 1:4 UK
households have regular contact with a disabled person

=B7	Over 1 million people are registered as blind or partially sighted
=B7	A further 700,000 people struggle to read standard print
=B7	Over 1 million people have a learning difficulty, affecting their
written assimilation
=B7	5-8% of the male, and 1% of the female population have a colour
deficiency

=B7	The population is ageing, by 2004, 40% will be over 45, when
disability increases
=B7	20% of people aged over 50 use online shopping sites
=B7	Majority of on-line banking users are over 50
=B7	By the year 2025 the world health organization predicts that 20% of
the world population will consist of '3rd agers'.
=B7	The 3rd age generation is made up of a significant population of
individuals with multiple disabilities.

=B7	Over 10 million (40%) UK households have Internet access, an
increase of 4 million in 1 year.
=B7	Predictions are that this will increase to 60% by 2005 and reach 90%
by 2009
=B7	By 2009 over 80% (40 million) of UK consumers will be using
interactive services
=B7	2/3 of these will not access the Internet on a PC; they will use
digital TV and mobile phones and will experience problems with inaccessible
Websites
