xml & xsl editors

I am just starting to learn xml and xsl and have been doing some simple 
coding by hand. Maybe simple isn't the right word, because one little mistake 
of course breaks the code. Can anyone recommend an xml or xsl stylesheet 
editor/generator that I can try? Shareware or something on a trial basis?

And in your opinion, is this a technology that is going to be around for a 
while? It certainly has a lot of promise, but just as many drawbacks, at 
least for now.
