I think the white works. It grabs and holds your attention, and you
want people to know where they are. :) There's also a high contrast
with the background...have you ever read anything by Roger Black?
You seem to use a lot of his ideas.
For those who don't know, Roger Black is a layout editor whose work
is famous in print. He's written a book about design called "Web
Sites That Work." I don't agree with a lot of his ideas, but he
makes some good points. :) And no, I'm not getting paid to say
that. Just my own, over-inflated opinion. *g*
Just some pointers on sub pages (don't have time to go
individually...)
- Watch the CSS mouseovers. Some pages (Library being one) don't
have the color change and/or they are a different color. You should
keep all of your links the same color and style so visitors aren't
confused.
- Since this is a law site, I expected the content to reflect the
profession (or at least the popular opinion...). Read the text on
your "reception" page and I'm not sure how I feel about it...It's
light, breezy, amusing, but at the same time it's not professional.
I guess something about it just rubs me the wrong way.
- I'm not sure you'd want to keep the guestbook on your site. After
all, a disgruntled client could stop by and trash you. You risk
having a potential client read damaging comments before you see and
delete them. Maybe you could change it to a
feedback/comment/question form before going live?
- The counters are poor in color and taste--digital green doesn't fit
with the style you've established. Also, being a commercial site, if
only 400 people have seen your site, I wouldn't be that impressed
with your marketability on the web and might look elsewhere.
Of course, all of the above (with the exception of Katsuey's quoted
comment) are solely my opinion. YMMV. :)
Back to work.
