I could not have said it any better!
I have. In fact, I continue to create sites in both editors. I think =
it's=20
good to be able to work in more than one editor. I disagree with those=20
that disparage FP2000 - it's a good program. DW3 is also an excellent=20
editor - which feature for feature, I've learned to like a bit better =
than=20
FP2000. DW3 is a bit harder to pick up but it has some great features =
and=20
in most cases you can do everything done in FP in DW - its just done=20
differently. FP is the easier of the two to learn IMHO.
DW3 is my editor of choice because of the ability to work in layers - to =
me=20
this allows better placement of items and is really great for sites =
where=20
you aren't quite sure how you want to lay it out. Working in layers =
you=20
can move things around and be a bit more creative.
As far as hand coding, I will say that it stuns me how many "web designers"=
=20
don't read or write a pixel of HTML. I think being able to adjust HTML=20
produced by WYSIWYG editors is critical to good design, but I think =
hand=20
coding when such good editors are available is akin to using a typewriter=
=20
rather than a computer. However, I understand that just as some writers=20=
would never give up their typewriters, some designers won't give up =
their=20
hand coding. IMHO if you read and write HTML, with a good editor you =
can=20
get all the benefits of hand coding but save yourself one heck of a lot =
of=20
time.
