Photoshop 5.5 comes with ImageReady 2.0 which, like Fireworks, does all the
slicing, rollover, optimizing, imagemapping, etc. I don't believe PS 5.02
comes with ImageReady does it?
You can also stay in Photoshop and make gifs and jpegs more seamlessly. It
uses ImageReady components but doesn't open the program. Again, I don't
remember PS 5.0 doing that. (I was working in 4.0 and 5.0 at the same time
and then got 5.5 and cannot remember the moment Web stuff became easier but I
am pretty sure 5.5 was a major jump into Webland.) Download a trial version
of it from adobe.com and see.
Also, in 5.5 you can on a split screen compare different ways of saving the
file (up to 4 splits -- gif as compared jpeg and/or different levels of them).

Also a question- I like Fireworks for optimizing images, but there's a lot
more tools in Photoshop. I have 5.02- does the newer 5.5 something do a
better job at optimizing graphics?
Thanks.
