<< Hiya all,
Is there any way to scan negatives using a flat-bed scanner? I've tried it
and all I get is a black image. I tried putting some paper on top of the
negative with the same result. Is there some technique I should be using or
is it only possible with a purpose designed scanner for this purpose?

Hi Richard,
When working with negatives or slides you need a source of light behind
the film. I have had great success scanning negatives by using a small light
box on top of my scanner (I picked up the light box at a camera store for
about $60). After you scan your negs you will need to invert the color info.
I use Ulead PhotoImpact for editing so I use Format:Invert to do this. I
don't know what would be comparable in PS or PSP (sorry). Anyway, I hope this
helps...
