That may works, so long as you realize you're writing off smaller
monitors, which you apparently feel are not a significant proportion
of your audience.
I presume the white background is to prevent visible tiling. A height
of 1500 seems excessive to me.
What's the reason for using it as a background image? The way you
have it planned, it will be off-center for viewers using a high res
monitor.
Why not simply place it as an image <IMG> and center it? You can add
the text you now have to the image itself (e.g., as layers in
Photoshop, which then get flattened when you create a jpeg or gif).
The whole image could be the ENTER link. Just turn off borders in the
IMG tag.
