I've tried to deal with most of the problems you mentioned.  

David, my client has flat-out refused to change the format of that first page.  I've done my best to make it look ok and it does in a number of browsers. Sorry that it doesn't look so good on a Mac.  Luckily, the person who designed the page works on a Mac and is likely to experience first hard the problem you describe.  At which point, it will be up to her to change this or not.  So, yes, it does currenly require that the text be small, small, small.  It seems like the other browsers grant my !important wish and make it so.  Guess yours doesn't.  Sigh.
