ASP 2.0/3.0 - and thus VBScript - will be able to exist along with ASP.Net.
Backwards compatible. So this isn't absolutely true. Yet it's true enough.

The jack-of-all has been fading fast anyway in the web scene. This is
another nail in that coffin.

Specialization and depth will be necessary for serious sites. Hobbyists will
still be able to pump out wizzywigged web pages, and some competent
jack-of-all developers will stick around doing mom-and-pop small business
sites, and quite nicely. But the gap between such sites and state of the art
sites will leave them looking more like hobbyist sites as time and
technology move on.

And as competition brings prices of specialized services within reach of
less impressive budgets, the competent jack-of-all will look less and less
competent . . .
