Validating CSS Question

I have a question about validating CSS.  When I validate from my HD, there
is no problem.  When I try to validate from uploaded pages, I get the
following error.
Target: http://www.lcii.net/~blgv/HWG/hwg1.css
I/O Error: Unknown mime type : text/plain

This is the link on my pages...

<.link rel=stylesheet type="text/css" href="hwg1.css">

My question is how can I get this fixed so it will validate?  Thanks for all
your help.
