text link mouseover, changes an image.

Does anyone know of a script that can let a user mouseover a text link, that
then changes an image somewhere else on a page?
I have seen this used to create a popup description of where a user is about
to click to.
For Example:
If there was a text link in a menubar linking to a page about football. When
a user mouses over it, the image to the right changes into a small
description about the football page. The text link could be an image also -
I think it would be done the same.

Any ideas?
