I teach a live class for a local continuing ed program, and ranup against
this question this year. Since it was a basics class, I decided to teach
only enough styles to format font size, face and colo(u)r and bto set
background colors for block-level tags and anchors. The school district
has added an advanced class beginning this fall where I will branch out a
bit.
My thought was that one should learn to properly structure the document with
HTML before spending too much time on presentation...?

....But now, we have things like style sheets to deal with, and I have no
idea
when I should introduce them. Should I teach style first, or somewhere in
the middle, or should I leave it for the end? If I teach them first, that
would eliminate the need for some of the older tags, but I'm afraid that
might be way too confusing for a novice.....
