Yep, Ted, there are some Unix/Linux ZIP archive utilities out there. I guess the question in this case just comes down to who should download the utility. Unlike Windows, however, there is no need to install an external program to access archive utilities with Unix/Linux. The tar and gzip utilities are built into most (all?) standard distributions. What's more, there's no need for fussing around with a clunky GUI, they can both be run from the command line.
