If you do not mind spending $10 for a monthly (or $49/yr) subscription,
here is an address that has that type of info sorted by city and state. It
will tell you what people are actually getting paid (or paying) for a
certain job in a certain area.

I like your idea of compiling a sample of what web firms in an area
charge. This could be helpful with certain clients with whom I have been
working for 3-4 years who can't deal with the periodic raises in fees I
need to impose. I'd like to show them the "real world" out there so they
"get it". I'd rather not have to drop them as clients, since I enjoy
working with several of them. I know they have no idea what fees are
being charged right now. My question is: how do you go about putting
together such a sample? Any tips will be most appreciated.
