Yup, I have suggested it numerous times ;-) For whatever reason they don't

Correct, however in this case they don't want to hear it. Bad case of
technophobia - anything they don't/can't/won't understand is bad.

As a stopgap one can use:

And of course it might not hurt to get a professional legal opinion when
modifying.
A lot of good responese on this thread about the education aspect. I did
make several attempts to educate all of the points suggested in this thread.
As another poster pointed out, it will likely cost them $X in conversion
and the choice is theirs.
