I maintain a website for a Blues music society and I've been asked by the
board members if I can make the membership info available to the board
through the website so they can update it, print out labels from the file,
etc... Now, I'm a newbie at building databases and an embryo when it comes
to integrating a database with a web site.
First question:
Can anybody point me to a few tutorials where I can start learning the
basics of database/web integration.
Second question:
The society's membership file is currently in a MS Word document (I dont
know why it was created in Word) and it's a mess. I'll need to build a new
database but I'm not sure which database software to use. Someone told me
that I need to use ASP for database/web integration but my web host
provider (ValueWeb) does not support ASP. Is ASP a neccessity in
integrating databases/websites? Am I out of luck if I cant use ASP?
So I guess my question is - can anyone recommend a database program (does
not have to be very sophisticated) that does not rely on ASP to integrate
it with a web site.
Thanks for any help you can give,
Bob Unger
