Hi Pat,

The home page took some time to load, but this could have been the
ridiculously slow speed I was getting over my company's connection (4
bytes/s at one point). I suspect that the host server (xoom) and my
connection are both to blame. So I cannot comment objectively on the
download time.

The repeated "rind" image creates an interesting effect - I would credit
the artist though, and link the images to a page with info on the artist
and also on what the image means to you - I suspect it wasn't chosen
randomly as a design element!

The links to different parts of the site are nicely laid-out and easy to
follow, but I suggest you emphasise the headings (eg Survivor Resources)
some way other than underlining. Underlining to most people means a link.
Rather use a larger font or a different colour.

In the same vein, don't underline the links to the guestbook - the browser
defaults to underlining links, so most people have it that way, but some
people turn *off* the link underlining because they don't like it. Also, I
would move these up to the rest of the links - they're not too noticable
where they are.

More about links: make them a different colour to the rest of the text, so
that it's really clear what can be clicked on and what can't.

The missing children applet took ages to load and you might want to move
it to a different page - obviously you want a lot of people to see it, but
if people leave because the page takes too long to load, they won't see it
anyway. Perhaps replace it on this page with an image of one child, using
a CGI script to rotate the image so that on every download of the page a
different picture is seen. You could link this image to a page with the
applet on it. This would improve download time substantially without
losing too much of the effect.

On the Survivor Organization Links page, there are a lot of links - I
suggest you put a list of the different groups at the top of the page and
create internal links to the sections.

I couldn't look at any of the other pages because everything was taking so
long.

In general the site is nice and neat, and it's great to see people put up
worthwhile content, instead of pictures of their dogs.
