Site critique

Greetings all

I would appreciate a critique of my (personal) site. A few general things
that I am interested in:

Appearance
Navigation
Load time

and specifically, graphics issues:
image appearance: too light, too dark, too small, too big, load time, etc.
Please check the pictures in the Reference - Photo Gallery section, as a
recent visitor stated that he had some problems viewing them.
Recommendations for fixing any problems found would be appreciated as well
(graphic manipulation is not exactly my forte). I don't expect you to have
the time to examine my entire site in detail (it's  getting kind of big),
but would really appreciate a look at the specific example mentioned above,
and perhaps a comparison to the rest of the pictures on my site (for the
Featured Aircraft). Please also mention your screen resolution and color
depth.
