In my opinion, the full colored larger thumbnails would be better. The
small ones don't tell you much about the big picture other than what you
already know - that there'll be a marching band. If you are concerned
about loading time (who isn't), you may put just six of them on the 1st
thumbnail page and a link to next six.
What you should definitely do, is to make the thumbnals match with at
least one dimension. Preferably, crop some of them so that they have all
the same dimensions. Right now the arrangement is not very appealing.
As for the arrows, I guess the blue, red or violet would go better with
the background - but all of them are quite acceptable.
One more thing - on the main page, you repeat the meta tags. Is that an
intention?
