Well there is a little of a problem here ;)
I've checked the site with both IE and NN and they both seemed ok to me.
There was no blur on "Semiconductor" and the gifs merged well into the
background. (by the way, nice site!) There was a slight contrast on top,
right and bottom sides of the composition, but that almost passed without
notice.
I'm using a Matrox Millennium II with 16bits color.

I then swapped to 256 colors. Both IE and NN showed me dithered versions of
the gifs and the background (that's normal), but surprise of the surprises,
NN was the worst. It's rendered dither was awful and contrasted with the
background in an outrageous way. IE was bad, but once again the gifs merged
with the background. Also, NN actualy deformed the gifs as soon as I
activated the java script. Go figure...

So, as you can see I had a different perspective.
I will not even ask you if you are debugging the site in 256 color mode (I
guess you are not). But sometimes I have similar problems, and the best bet
it's to check it with another graphics card configuration. My Matrox
Millennium, for instance, gives me the grieves when it comes to jpg's. So, I
also check it in another computer which uses a different graphics card (and
most of the time things look nice there).
Also, try to see if you have "smart dither" disabled on IE by going to
View|Internet Options and then choosing the 'Advance' tab. If so, turn it on
and restart IE.
