Another thing you need to remember when designing a site is what
platform it will be viewed with...
this was taken from one of our sites that gets almost a million hits a
month... that gives us a pretty good view of what people are using...
this is for a entertainment site, the mac scores only a little higher for a
educational site...

    1 Windows 95 63.79%
    2 Others 12.75%
    3 Windows NT 11.87%
    4 Windows 98 3.24%
    5 Windows 3.x 2.72%
    6 Windows Win32s 1.56%
    7 Macintosh 1.41%
    8 Macintosh PowerPC 1.24%
    9 OS/2 0.6%
    10 SunOS 0.24%

The catagory of others is webtv, opera, and some of the other browsers
that dont send the os in the req. statment.

        Hi,
I occasionally work with an other person on web pages,
She does the HTML, and I do the graphics. We are having trouble
in that what I see on my screen is not what she sees.
She mainly works with a lap top computer. Recently, she viewed
the work I had sent her on another PC (an aptiva) , and realized
that it look considerably better than on her laptop.
Here is my problem. My co-hort thinks we should design for the
majority of viewers (and I agree), but that most folks would have
similar viewing as her machine, and that my machine is fancier
than the average user (and I disagree, I think my PC is just a
normal PC).
How do most html designers design for various users? The more
I re-do to look good on the lap top, the less wonderful the graphics
look
to me <g> . All the subtle aspects have to be taken out.
I want my work to look good to everyone, but is that possible?
        I have been working 800 x 600 with 16 bit color,on a Pentium PC,
as that is comfortable viewing for me.
if you want to look, the below URLs will take you to the work in
progress.
Comments welcome, as long as they are not too cruel <g>
