Adobe Illustrator.....why?

We are licensed to use Adobe Illustrator at work, in addition to Adobe
PhotoShop, ImageReady and ImageStyler.

Of all the Adobe products, I have found Illustrator to be the least useful.
Perhaps it's my ignorance of the power of this application, but I don't see
anything about the program that I can't accomplish in PhotoShop or
ImageReady.

Can someone who uses Illustrator fill me in on what the big deal is with
this program?  Is there any advantages about it that make
it worth keeping on my harddrive?
