Personally, I have found Paint Shop Pro 5.0 to be superior to Photoshop 5
and MS PhotoDraw superior to both.

I found the four tutorials, that are available on the second CD ROM that
comes
with Photoshop 5.0, invaluable when I first started out. Tutorial 1,
"Working
with Selections, provides instructions on how to use the marquee tool which
allows you to create rectangular, elliptical, etc, shapes. For example, to
create a circle you select the elliptical marquee tool and hold the shift
key
down as you drag to define the size and position of the circle. Double click
the elliptical marquee tool to view the marquee options dialog box. Hope
