Here's something I've always thought about the color/res
issue...
Personally, I don't care about the res, because I try to
keep my pages skinny, anyway. I do like nice color,
though. I say that if everyone goes ahead and ups
their site a notch, it will force the visitors to up their
system a notch.
Even the most ignorant users will notice that "something
doesn't look right", and that they need to do (or have
something done) about it.
I'm almost finished gathering the step-by-step instructions
for various platforms on how to increase/change color/res,
with recommended settings. I'll let you know when I've
finished this, and I WANT you to copy the source and use
it in your own way. Make your modifications as needed.
Let's bring the user status up, not take the designer
status down.

I don't know why 3D came up. Let's see if it works this time:

>Your boss is correct
><TABLE>
><TR><TD>Some stuff</TD><TD>More stuff</TD></TR>
></TABLE>
FYI, if you leave out <TR>, it will not display properly on
MSIE 4.0+ for Mac. The cells will just be placed horizontally.
I went to a "Top 100" site at my old job (which was Mac
platform) on MSIE 4.01, and the entire table (over 400 cells)
were in one long, scrolling horizontal road.

I've never really cared about that. I usually just create a folders,
instead of pages, and throw in my index.htm. When I used to
100% handcode, all my extensions were *.html. I use
Dreamweaver 2.0 now, which saves them all as *.htm.
I must confess, though... I handcoded (and still do) www.djscifi.com,
and that is *.htm across the board. Bad me...

...or [Mask] / [Color Mask], then use the eye dropper on the background,
and create a subtractive mask. This isn't really better or worse, but I
know a lot people who have trouble using the masking tools. If you don't,
then... I'm... going... to... go... ... stand-over-there.
>How does using a certain file extension make a *file* look unprofessional?
For really, though... only a handful of people on this planet
really give a care about the file extension. I'm not one of
them.
To each man is his own...
