Yes there are quite a few. You can look through archives of this list to see
the pros and cons of each. I recommend Paint Shop Pro. It is very robust and
will forgive you on the learning curve especially if you do not already have
a Mac background. In the beginning there were two machines that did most if
not all of anything to do with graphics thus everything initially created in
those days was for those machines. Mac and Amiga. Amiga has evolved above
and beyond anything any one really expected from a system that died then
came back. Mac used to be very proprietary. Now it is very user friendly.
But getting back to my point. PSP was created initially and specifically for
the non-Mac user who did not have the background in art that was required by
the other software's. It is also specifically to create fast and easy
graphics for the web. The other programs initially created for Mac has only
started to do that in the last 5 years. There are many new programs out
there but they are equally expensive. Micrografx was one of them. They
bought out one of the first web graphical suites out there and totally
screwed over all the users of the suite on the upgrade. They wanted us to
all pay full price for the new version that removed all the components that
made it a suite and added in a win2k compatibility dll. It went from four
complete programs to one with demos of the others. :( The only reason I have
win 95 on one computer here at home is for that old suite. It is to die
for!! And it only cost me 45.00 brand new. The programs combined comes to a
little over 800.00 now.

Those are my reasons for recommending PSP for a beginner and/or non Mac
user.
