Development Manager

Responsibilities:
This unique position requires both strong managerial and project management 
skills, and a thorough understanding of software development.
Primary responsibility is to expand and manage a Java application 
development team in Phoenix for the purpose of providing solutions for the 
client. This position will be required to provide consistent and 
comprehensive coaching, mentoring, and feedback on the performance of all 
staff members, including the writing of quarterly and annual evaluations, 
and goal setting for long and short-term career planning.

Additional responsibilities include managing the project portfolio with 
regards to team resources, project planning, timelines and status 
reporting. Participation in system design reviews, code reviews and 
usability sessions will be required.

Requirements:
5 years experience in an IT environment
3 years of demonstrated leadership capabilities in a high growth technical 
environment.
3 years experience in interviewing and hiring technical candidates
Familiar with software system development methodology
2 year programming experience with Java, C++ or the like
Good conceptual knowledge of NT desktop, UNIX and mainframe systems
Ability to constructively challenge process and work with others to 
identify and implement best practices
Excellent oral/written communication and customer services skills required
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively lead and motivate 
a team
Ability to effectively tailor the communication of technical and 
non-technical information to different audiences.
Strong presentation skills
