Not sure if I should post this question here or to the basics list, but here
goes.

I'm looking at:
ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/iana/assignments/media-types/application/

... trying to determine the correct MIME subtype for a text file
(whatever.txt), but see nothing on the list. What is the correct subtype for
this?  I know the MIME type is "application", but I'm trying to find out how
this:

Content-Type: application/msword

... would be modified if a text file were used instead of a MS Word file.
I'm designing a purchase and download script (with a LOT of outside
assistance) that will support multiple items and file types, and that is
integrated with PayPal, allowing only one download per purchase.

A zipped file, which will be used in most cases, most likely, would be:
Content-Type: application/zip

.. but I can't find anything relating to a text file.  Is it simply
Content-Type: application/text ???
