Hi Rich
The purposes are mainly experimental and for the sake of learning.
I have my own url at http://www.diades.co.uk which is hosted by Bigwig.com
and would consider moving that when and, if, I I up and running.
My connection I get from Screaming.net, (now World Online) which is a
totally free connection but do not host.
I have a Pentium 2 with 64meg and 32meg on graphics, 2 hard drives, 3 & 4
gig and run windows 98 with Personal Web Server set up on it.
I want, as I said previously, to run asp, activex and email in order that I
have those facilities and more (database, webcam etc)for my site plus any
sites that I happen to be working on at the moment.
I do not know linux as it was a subject that was very sketchily covered at
the college that I attended I am, however, boringly Microsoft orientated.
I would think that, from a novices point of view that, whilst not free,
Windows NT or Millenium? when it comes out might be the direction. I don't
know, I need more data.
Cheers,
Keith
