I'm not sure if this will serve or not, but I've been playing around 
with a program that measures the time it takes to get a file from the 
server.

 Its not measuring file size, its measuring actual time to connect to 
and retrieve from the server, a web page. Then it displays the 
header and html information for that page before going on to 
checking the links gleamed from the webpage (measuring the 
response time for them as well).  If you're interested in trying the 
program (its still being beta tested by our subscribers) you can visit

Currently I've set the program so only the first 50 links detected on 
the page will be checked.
