I'm already a Homesite user (Macromedia Homesite 5 - we've made some of the
icons bigger.  Aren't you glad we own you know!) but it doesn't help in this
case.

I'm trying to provide some evidence to the powers that be regarding the need
to structured caching.

Currently no specific steps are taken regarding caching and so almost every
page asset is downloaded each and every time a page is loaded (if you web
server doesn't set caching headers the web browser will basically
re-download the file - not very efficient!).

A couple of us are trying to change this and have both caching headers and a
bank of caching servers (such as Squid www.squid-cache.org).

To change things we need some numbers to point to (for the techies) and draw
perty graphs (for the managers).

We only have this caching demo set up on an internal server and so don't
have a dial-in option.

So far as I am aware Homesite measures the total download of the page and
all it's assets, assuming no caching.
