Interpretation of, and support for, these types of links are client-based
and very subjective. One of the reasons we move toward standards is to
eliminate this gray area.

Although it is commonly supported by the software we are most familiar with
(web browsers), that support is there only because the manufacturers
voluntarily put it in. If the iOpener people have not done so, then that
machine is just an example of the risk taken with hacks that "work", but are
not standards-based. My fear would be less with the past, when the Web was
mainly browser-based, and more with the future in which alternative
appliances may become more common.

Given all that, I don't remember hearing of any complaints on-list or off.
Admittedly my ancient brain may not retain everything that it encounters,
though...:). Still, it would have to be a pretty rare issue not to come up
on this list regularly.

Ah, here I am with the iOpener person again...

His little appliance can do mail and web, but somehow has trouble with
click on web addresses that have the subject and sometimes part of the
message filled in.
This is the ONLY "machine" that I have ever heard of having this trouble.
Even older computers/browsers/emailers can handle a simple subject being
put into that field.

Can you all vouch for that?
He thinks that others might be having this trouble and wants me to remove
it, but it severely messes up my mail sorting if I don't have it.

I have NEVER had any complaints, anyone here?
