Hi gang:
I need an answer to a question posed to me by one of our clients.
Situation:
The client has an MS Access database with some 1200 items with information
on each item in separate fields. This was all text stuff. They now want to
include pictures for each of these items. They set out to take pictures of
each item and now want to create a new field in the database to place a
picture for each item.
Here are the choices they have come up with...
1. Unbound object frame/Embedded object - the sample they used to
portray this type of control was to put a logo on an invoice report.
2. Unbound object frame/Linked object - the sample they used to portray
this type of control was for MS Excel worksheet in a sales report.
3. Bound object frame/Embedded object - the sample they used to portray
this type of control was to place each employee's picture in an employee
table. (This by the way, sounds like the right one)
4. Bound object frame/Linked object - the sample they used to portray
this type of control was to put employees resumes in an employees form
that you can maintain using MS Word.
The Issue:
They would like to use this database on a regular basis in their business.
Now they would also like this on the net. Presently, I have a java program
that provides the information on the net using a flat text file which is
delimited. I just export the data from MS Access to a delimited text format
and place it on the server where the Java program grabs the stuff and places
it in its proper place.
The Question:
What would be the best way for them to proceed (include the pictures) so
that I can receive this database and be able to save it as a flat file which
would also include the pictures?
Any help would be appreciated.
