you can export them to a file from tools>accounts select the email account
and click the export button, it saves them as .iaf files , you can then
import the account settings into another copy of outlook express with the
import button, which is above the export button.

| Here's a tip: They're in the registry. They're huge (especially if you
have
| mail/news sort/filter rules turned on). They're amazingly messy and they
| NEVER restore EXACTLY the same, because SOMETHING is always just a touch
| different (usually the amazingly overcomplex USER ID string that looks
like
| a CLSID).
|
| Another tip: if you want your old email files to "lock" to your new email
| accounts, you better know the order you entered your email accounts (if
you
| have more than one, and many people do nowadays). I have quite a number
for
| administrative purposes. If I restore even ONE account out of order from
how
| they were added the previous time, my "old" emails from the previous
| installation will be "locked" to the wrong reply addresses -- what a total
| mess if you're not paying attention!
|
| Outlook/Outlook Express, despite their inherant shortcomings due to MS
being
| a little soft on certain type of security, are pretty decent
email/newsgroup
| programs. But the way they (or at least OE) manage things like email
account
| and mail sorting rules leaves a LOT to be desired.

| | What I did up til now was just backup the entire directory with the
| Outlook
| | data (in Windows - Application Data - ...) and same with the .wab
address
| | book. Then when I format, I install Outlook, start it up, make sure I
| | create some entry in the address book, close it down and copy the whole
| | stuff that I backed up to the new system (same place). You then rename
| the
| | address book to the login name of windows (Click start - you see Log out
| | ..., you need the name) if this is different. And hups, start Outlook,
no
| | complaints wheter, everything's there. (except for email account
settings,
| | still have to go and look for that one somewhere when I have the time).
| | Hope this helps, hope Win2000 will work like that too.
