I suppose it's possible that stats such as those from TheCounter might be
distorted by a lot of sites with relatively low traffic.
For example: a site with 20 hits every month. If 4 of those hits are from
search engine spiders, that would account for 20% of their total hits.
Of course, that's an extreme example. But that, combined with people that
do actually have JavaScript disabled, could explain the surprising
statistics.
