Altered Image Tags

Anyone noticing image tags suddenly being altered on their sites?

I noticed that on some images the first three characters are replaced with
!-- and the last two characters are replaced with --.  For example:
<img src="banner.jpg" alt="Touch of Flavour">
<!-- src="banner.jpg" alt="Touch of Flavou-->

Now that I've started looking, I'm noticing it on several of the sites I've
done...
