One possible solution: put a <font face="Verdana,...."></font> tag around
the sentence straight after the list. IE will apply the style and overide
this, and NN will use the <font> tag definitions. I ususally have two
separate style sheets, one for NN4 and the other for all CSS1 compliant
browsers. If I detect NN4 I use the former.
