Strange ad appearance

I have been doing maintenance (i.e. adding and removing items) for these people for a few years.
This morning I received the following message from them:

"The strangest thing is going on with our computer. When we are looking at our sites on the Dhd subs and the
volfenhag subs and some of the other pictures, the picture changes into a advertizement from some other
company. It is very weird. I have tried to get it off my computer but I can't. It says it is a temp. internet
file and I tried deleting all temp. internet files but it was still doing it.  Have you ever heard of this and
what can we do to make it stop happening."

Has anyone heard of this?
