I think the use of XML format is intended to make the data more portable.
The people using the format are makign the data available to everyone acrss
platforms. I would imagine that perhaps 5 minutes after some bored techie
realizes the audience needs a tool to read the documents with there will be
one written.
It would be nice if the people posting the XML ducments included a link to a
reader, though, wouldn't it...?

So why do these blog sites make this available to an audience made up of
mostly bloggers who aren't techies? XSLT is a little more advanced than
your typical styling language. Maybe it's just a vanity plate of sorts?
