Someone on the Languages list was asking about getting an IE3 browser so
they could test some javascript. Since the link was there, and I didn't have
IE3 on my box, I went ahead and downloaded IE3.03 for WinNT3.51. Boy was I
glad that I did.

(When you get it, install it to a different directory than the default
c:\Program Files\Plus etc. etc. so it does not overwrite your current IE.)

It's been a while since I've had access to IE3 and was surprised to see my
brand new site design (due to launch in a few weeks) get completely broken
in IE3, even though I have it working in IE4-5.5 and NN3-6.

The problem I ran into was the use of images as backgrounds to table cells.
It completely hung the IE3 browser. I'm now adjusting my pages so that IE3
browsers won't load those images.

As I said to someone yesterday, IE3 accounts for a whopping four out of
every one-thousand user sessions for my site, but, well, it's just HTML
CODER PRIDE that still makes me want to make sure the page at least loads
and the text is accessible.
