Hi all--sorry this is so late. I take the digest version of several
lists and just caught up on all my reading! I recommend the Visual
Quickstart book "HTML 4; Fourth edition", by Elizabeth Castro. It's
published by Peachpit Press--go to
http://www.peachpit.com/books/catalog/K5950.html to see the table of
contents. It's really a handy reference book that's reasonably
priced...list price $19.99 US. The major bookstores carry it. Besides
good coverage of the basics, the appendixes are also helpful: special
symbols and hexadecimal equivalents for colors. It also touches on CSS
and includes a few JavaScripts and tips on pubishing and publicizing your
web site. It's been an excellent addition to my library and is usually
the first book I grab when I get "stuck".
