Again, thanks for your help, but I realize I'm premature. I don't intend to 
serve my own pages: I job that out to Verio. And since *all* of my software 
is Win98 based, I should not be entertaining this platform at all at the 
moment! Sorry for diverting your attention to this needless question. I 
guess I got so swept up in this fascinating dialogue that I didn't consider 
my question as thoroughly as I should have.

Yeah, I agree with the whole philosophy of open source code. One day, Linux 
will probably be a strong contender with Windows, and software will be 
written accordingly. However, for the applications I use, that day has not 
yet come.
