I currently have an intranet site (training catalog) that is 
essentially a bunch of identical pages (in terms of 
layout) with only relatively minor differences in content 
(class title, description, length, prerequisites). Such a 
site is ideally suited to being generated by a script from 
a content database, which is what one of our 
programmers and I are putting together for our 3rd 
major site revision.

One drawback to having separate pages for each image 
is that each page eats extra disk space.
