Bob:
When a DTD is present, NN6.1 tries to conform very closely to the
standards; when a DTD is missing, NN6.1 tries to behave like a legacy
browser. IE6 has similar behaviour.
Your code, therefore, has problems which produce unexpected results when
interpreted in accordance with the standards. I recommend that you restore
the DTD and fix your code.
