When using ALT tags in an imagemap, you should also use a TITLE tag with the
same text. Either NN or IE has problems with ALT in an imagemap, but I can't
remember offhand which one.

I've found that alt tags in image maps can be a flaky thing. I have NN 4.7
an IE4 on Windows NT and yours showed up on the screen nicely.
However, I've seen image maps where the alt tags show up only a few times
(or only 5 out of 8 show)and then disappear or not show up at all. Go
figure...
